A early start, and on the road at 7.30am with our driver Mr Ty. An uneventful 2 and half hour journey(apart from Mr Ty loving to toot his horn - even when there was nothing to toot at!) and a close call for a dog choosing to cross the road in front of the van!
Once we were at Kep we had a lot of fun trying to work out the road to Jasmine Valley Ecolodge - a jungle retreat - a small narrow winding track up the mountain- poor driver was so worried where we were taking him. Finally arrived at 10.30am and given beautiful lime slushie welcome drink. Our mud hut (room 5) was ready - magnificent rustic room and Wayne immediately collapsed on the bed as still unwell. (kobe not 100% either) Boys and I headed up for some pool and table tennis and a bite to eat. Boys tree house finally ready- what a view(room 7) - a little small for the 3 of them (as they put in extra bed for Kobe) but they loved it. Owen the owner ( Australian) and his Cambodian wife Jasmine are lovely and welcoming- they also gave me some medicine for Wayne which hopefully will improve his stomach cramps. Kobe also has a bed made up in our room so he and I put up our Xmas tree I had packed then had an afternoon nap (as you do). We then all did a video - Merry Xmas message to email and up to the eating area as the owners had put on a 'shindig' as Kobe likes to call it for all the guests. Monstrous amounts of food- fish/ crab soup, roast pork, wood fired barramundi and king prawns, tamarind eggs, oodles of roast vege and salads of all kinds. Then 2 types of cakes plus honey joys and loads of yummy tropical fruit. Then bowls of m and m's - like bloated piggies we retired to bed at 8.30pm listening to the beautiful sounds of the jungle with our little Xmas tree lights on. Kobe fast asleep in our room to be near the tree. Sweet dreams- Merry Xmas - hope everyone is safe and happy. Hopefully Wayne and Kobe will be all improved in the morning.
