A two hour flight had us land in Siem Reap at around 10.30 in the morning. We were met by our guide Sahan and his driver Mr Win who took us to where I had booked us in at Sonalong Boutique HOTEL. A little oasis about a 10 minute walk from the busy main bustle of Pub St and the Old Market.
All pretty tired after only a couple of hours sleep so jumped in the gorgeous pool to wake up and lazed around it for a couple of hours. Then walked into town and had lunch at the Kymer Kitchen which is owned by Cambodian family and has geniune cambodian food (many eating places are owned by vietname, belguims, etc.)
Had a yummy dish of chicken AMOK which is a national dish of cambodia -in coconut milk with lemongrass wrapped in banana leaf. had a short walk around the old market where Liam practised his bartering skills then headed back for another swim and laze about falling asleep, then early tea here at Sonalong - had amok again and boys had stirfry etc. Crashed into bed.
Weather about 25 and a bit steamy - our rooms are basic and very comfortable. Boys upstairs and Wayne and I downstairs. Staff are all wonderfully warm and friendly. Really like where we are staying.
