Kisoro and Volcanoes National Park - Gorillas
We drove to Kisoro, to see the mighty Mountain Gorillas! The first time we saw them was in Uganda, the trek was only 20 minutes but we had been warned we could have to walk for hours! It was amazing to see these powerful animals, and they were quite scary sometimes, especially the noises they made, which I think sounded like dinosours in Jurassic park!
After this trek we still had over half the day left so we decided to go and see a Pygmi village. It was really interesting to see how tiny they were but also the way they lived, which could be over five people ina tiny hut. The horrible thing was when the mankiest little boy in the village seemed to take a liking in me (Tove). It looked like he had been throwing up and he had white bitls all over his face, which he kept wiping against my white top! At one point he was reaching for Ollys face and when I stopped his hand he bit me! Both Olly and I felt so dirty afterwards. But the soings the pygmis sang for us whilst in the village and when we walked out of the village were really good. It was such an amazing experience overall!
The second time we saw the Gorillas was in Rwanda, thisd time was ten times better than the first time. We saw them in a clearing, much closer and could take better pictures. Once we found the Sambinyo Gorilla family our guides soon realized that one of the females had recently given birth (actually that morning) so we were lucky to welcome the newest member of the family.
Afer spending some time with the largest silverback in the park (he was huge) we went to find the rest of the family. We saw a young juvenile playing with a baby gorilla. They kept chasing each other through the trees and then scrapping with eacjh other. At one point the juvenile came to get Tove, grabbing her leg! After an hour with the gorillas our time with them was over. We got back and celebrated with a few Primuses! (The local lager)
