Title: Day 1 at sea
I was woken early to take the wheel because the wind had shifted around to the south and Barry rigged a preventer to keep the main sail from slamming back and forth as we wallowed on a dead run.
That done, I cooked fish and potatoes for breakfast.
My watches today are the 1100 to 1400 and the 2000 to 2400.
It's been rainy and overcast since last night. I found some more parts to the cockpit canopy and zipped them over the back and along the starboard side where the wind is coming from. Why Barry didn't tell us where these were last night, I don't know, because we got soaked on watch last night!
During my watch, Mirko worked hard taking the water pump out, taking it apart, replacing various O-rings and putting it back together. Then he re-installed it, only to find out that it didn't work. No Joy as we say in the Navy. He was very frustrated after 3 hours of work. But it was his watch and the 2nd attempt would have to be tomorrow.
Tonight we will probably just have snacks for dinner to conserve our emergency water. Barry said that as of noon today we have gone 110 nautical miles (nm).
