The Trek Day 10 – 6th Oct
We got into LA about half 5 and went to the top of Molholland Drive to get a good view of the Hollywood hills and the city. From where we were standing we could see directly see into the Hollywood bowl.
We were dropped off at our hostel and after a tearful good bye the trek was over.
Sixth Stop Los Angeles
We checked into our hostel and where told that there were about 30 people from the hostel going on a pub crawl so we tagged along but we were shattered after everything so went home early.
The 7th was very relaxed we walked round Hollywood. At night we went to a Mongolian restaurant for dinner. It was pretty cool – it’s basically a buffet of uncooked food. You get a bowl and fill it with what you want then a spoonful of water is added and the sauces you want then you give it to the chef and he cooks it on a round stove in front of you. After that we went to see the new Martin Scorsese film The Departed in Mann’s Chinese theatre. It is very plush with wooden carvings and Chinese lanterns.
On the 8th we walked along Sunset Boulevard and had dinner at a famous hotdog stand, Pinks. The walls are littered with signed photos of famous people who have been there from Tim McGraw to Céline Dion. Everything we went past there was a queue of at least 20 people it is that good. After that we went back to the hostel because they had organized a stand up comedy night.
On the 9th we had planned to hire a car and drive to San Diego but it was going to be too expensive because we were under 25 so we stayed in LA. We went to Venice beach and the next day headed for San Francisco…
