Saturday 19 March, Queenstown
Our final day in Queenstown is a rest day for sleeping in and domestic duties. But Colin and Tony have seen the steam ship TSS Earnslaw which is offering a lunchtime cruise across Lake Wakatipu. The ship was manufactured in Dunedin and then transported in pieces to Queenstown. She has been taking passengers and freight around the lake since 1912.
We stop at Walter Peak Farm for an excellent BBQ with top quality meats accompanied by equally good local Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. Lunch is popular, with tourists from many countries present, and some are impatient to be served. We wait to be called but there is no problem with lots of choice and more platters arriving on the buffet.
In the evening we have "Date Night" with our respective ladies so Kathy and I opt for a Mexican restaurant overlooking the busy Saturday night waterfront. Gluttons for punishment, Colin & Suz try out the other Ice Bar in town.
