Saturday 24 May, Day 1
Met up with Alan & Jo at the Qantas check-in at 10.00am as planned. The plane over to Sydney was an A330, but we left more than 20 minutes late due to head winds. Luckily we made it up on the way as the flight only took 3 hours & 20 minutes. Very quick!
Stayed at a hotel near the airport, as we had originally expected an early start on Monday, but the flight time was changed so we were to have a relaxed start. Dinner was at a little Italian pizza restaurant a few minutes walk from the hotel. A warm evening so we ate al fresco.
Sunday 25 May, Day 2
Sunday we did our own thing and headed north on the train to Turramurra to catch up with Tony's cousins Bill & Felicity for a coffee and then lunch. Then back to the city to do some shopping. The place was jumping on a Sunday afternoon as it was the start of the VIVID SYDNEY festival. From 6.00pm lots of buildings and landmarks are lit up with amazing animated images and a musical score. So we took the precaution of booking a table for 5 at the Waterfront Restaurant at The Rocks with a view of the Opera House.
We all met up at the hotel and caught the train in to Circular Quay. Could not get off the train for the crowds! Well eventually we did obviously, but clearly Vivid is a very popular event. We walked around looking at the Customs House, then the Museum of Contemporary Art, and finally the Opera House. Words cannot describe what they looked like, amazing!
We stopped in at Bar 101 for a glass of wine, and to meet up with Jo's son Jason. Then on to the Waterfront for an excellent meal.
