Today was a little cooler out than normal. Tried a new way of making bacon that our friends from Kamloops showed us: cook on the BBQ and sprinkle brown sugar on them. While this works well on a large BBQ, the small travel size ones have too much space on the grill tines and it wasn't long before the grease ignited and char broiled the bacon (excellent breakfast carcinogen). needless to say the remaining bacon went into the oven. Today we drive to Kelowna hoping to find things to do. First stop was the lavender gardens which Kim really wanted to see. Was very interesting reading up on the types and durability of some herbs (some types can make it through a mild winter and summer drought and still survive!). Decided to go to the O'Keefe Ranch today. We had noted this spot last year on the drive back home to Edmonton and made it one of the places to check out this year. Historic buildings spread over a large area of land, something like a mini Fort Edmonton Park. Took a tour of the original O'Keefe's family house. Not a cloud in the sky again, couldn't have asked for better weather! Did some shopping (of course, what else would 3 women want to do!), visited Davison Orchard for a refreshing apple smoothy and fudge (not consumed at the same time of course). Today we slept in, had a late breakfast, and headed to Kalamalka beach for the day. Very hot, +32, sunscreen was definitely in order. Played in the water with a mini football, relaxed on air mattresses, and just enjoyed the beach.
