We woke to rain. Rental car return was easy once I found it. No comments about the car I ruined. And there was no increase in price. Yea!
We got on the hop on - hop off bus after a mile and a half walk to the starting point in front of the Louvre around 9:45 am. We paid our 62 euros for admission and settled in for an all day ride in the rain.
Driving and walking around Paris, I noticed a lack of piercings, tattoos, hats turned around backwards, spiked hair, etc. on the young people. I kinda like it. Just a comment........
Lunch at a brasserie around noon near Notre Dame at the end of our first full circle of Paris on the bus. Lunch was much better than yesterday. We also split a bottle of red wine before heading to Notre Dame.
An absolutely beautiful Cathedral built between 1163 and 1345. The inside is more beautiful than the outside. Mary light a candle for everyone wishing us all a long and prosperous life. Although I must say that God might be getting a little tired of the shotgun approach to candle lighting. It takes about four minutes to rattle off all the names. But hey, I figure God can do anything. And he has not once cautioned me that I can have no more than three in a match.
After Notre Dame I wanted to walk around Ile de la Cite, of of two islands in the middle of the Seine that was the start of Paris around 52 BC. About ten minutes into that I realized that my legs were gone! Kaput! No Good! The last five days Mary had been walking my ass off. I arrive at our hotels feeling like a Bataan Death March Survivor. I think it finally caught up me me on the Pont Neuf Bridge. I told Mary, "No more walking for me!" She talked me into riding the bus around for two more circles. I agreed, but chickened out on the first swing when the bus got close to the hotel. She wanted to continue riding the bus over the same ground.
I did manage to walk back to my hotel arriving at 4:30. Mary came home a little later, checked on me, and then went walking down to the river again.
Okay, that was a lie. I waited until Mary's bus got out of sight and caught a cab back to the hotel! After all, I did say prayers in Notre Dame today, I'd hate to them go unanswered because I told a big whopper!
Mary returned from her Seine walk around 6:00 pm to find me in the bar. This probably won't surprise many of you, but I have a black pair of pajama bottoms. They look like exercise pants. Most of the people in the bar are wearing suits and ties, a few were casually dressed in jeans. So I donned my ninja pants with a dark polo shirt and went to the bar. I felt like a high school girl coming to class with no panties on. Com'on, you girls know the feeling!
No one noticed! Or at least no one made no comment.
Back in the room by 7:00 to pack and have room service for dinner. Our plane leaves at 10:30 am for Dulles.
Good night all!
