We traveled by tuk tuk to the pier to catch our long tail. The tuk tuk is a very expensive way of traveling around in Phuket. Websites we were reading refer to a tuk tuk maffia but they are a very easy way of going about the place. Having said that catching a bus is easy too. They crawl around the place slowly. If you want a bus simply signal the driver and he will pull over for you wherever you stand. It's very very very cheap too.
We managed to find the right pier and the long tail boat we had chartered.
The ride over to the island was just 15 mins and both Ross and i were blown away by what we were seeing. We both said how it typified Thailand. It was like being in one of the photographs we had been looking at. Breathtaking. All you see are prefect islands dotted about just how you imagine Thailand to look. The best part of the holiday so far for me.
We pulled into Rang Yai and both had beaming smiles as we realised we had landed on paradise. The strangest thing about the island is it is fairly unknown to tourists. When you tell locals that your going to rang Yai they imedatley ask you how you know about it. I must admit it did make the whole journey over here even more exciting.
We had a welcome cocktail waiting for us as we landed. We got shown to our teak hut and left to unpack and explore our private island. Yes I did say private island. None of the other huts had guests using them which was a really lucky break.
We walked up and down the beach and took in the incredible views of the whitest sands and bluest sea. And dotted around around our perfect island are yet more perfect islands.
Our teak hut is right on the beach. Two deck chairs and a little coffee table sit quaintly in front. Inside is just one main room with a bed a lamp a wardrobe and two wooden chairs. Its very simple. There is a wet room which is far more oplunant than i was expecting. I was so blown away by everything that I cried with happiness. (now don't take the mick cos you would have too)
It's the stuff that true dream holidays are made of here.
