Today we went to a huge store called Galleries LaFayette and I bought myself two new summer tops and then Dad left and Mum, Darcy and I checked out the food area which was full of delicious things. We grabbed some lunch ad took it back for dad and then we caught the Metro to Trocodero and all walked up the Eiffel Tower. There were 669 steps which made all the other climbs seem pretty short. Most people catch the lift up but we walked as far as you can and then got the lift for the final bit which you are not allowed to walk. I thought the view from the Arc de Triumph was good, but that was tiny in comparison.
I had a slushy and Darcy had an ice cream to cool off. We had to walk back down which as much faster and mum kept up.
After the Tower we caught the Metro to Monmartre which is on the north side and went on a walking tour with a man called Alex. He was French but from the other side of Paris. Walking And more walking, and up hill as well. We stopped at the Moulin Rouge, Amelie's cafe ( from the movie)' Van Gogh's house, Renoir's studio, and where Picasso used to hang out, and a whole lot of other places while Alex told us the history and funny stories. The last stop was Sacre Coeur cathedral which sits right on top of the hill and you can see so much of Paris and it is a great view because you can't see the Eiffel Tour because it is behind some trees, and you get to see other things without being distracted.
There was an amazing busker doing acrobatics with a lamppost and a soccer ball - he was amazing and people stopped to watch him for ages and to get their photos taken with him. Apparently he is really famous for what he does.
The tour finished late and we had dinner next to the cathedral and I had the longest hot dog in the world. And yep, more walking, but this time down the hill to the metro and then home.
