Drove down Pacific Coastal Highway from Monterey to San Luis Obispo, despite foggy areas we did see some spectacular scenery. We also stopped off for a hike to a viewing point at one of the state parks along the "Big Sur" coastline, don't get too excited it was only a 15 min walk to the view. On Friday night we went on a night tour to Alcatraz. I can tell you it sure was spooky as we sailed up to it on the tour boat. The boat circled the island before landing at the dock so we got to see the prison from every angle. We went straight up to the cell block and while we were waiting for our audio headsets we saw where the prisoners would get their issued uniform. The tour took us through all the cell blocks which included Block D where the toughest, rough...

Our late start meant we reached Monterey late afternoon so didn't have too much time to look around. Still we decided to go ahead and do the 17 Mile Drive. The scenery is spectacular, we could easily have stopped at every corner. I especially loved a sort of sand dune area, although the Monterey cypress are wonderful with their twisted bleached trunks. Yesterday after we had done Dolphin Discovery we went to the theme park part of Six Flags. The very first thing we did was watch the dolphin show Drench! which was amazing. One of the dolphins jumped so high to hit a ball way up in the air. After that, as dad didn't fancy doing them, me and mum went on the two wet rides White Water Safari and Monsoon Falls.
