Left Los Angeles this morning. Yesterday we learned that the city of LA has a population of 3.9 million, and if you include Beverley Hills, Hollywood and all it's surrounding suburbs it totals 18 million people, can you believe that. Took a day tour of Los Angeles on the Rasta Bus. There were about 18 of us on the bus and the driver was funny and informative. We would never have seen half the places he showed us if we drove ourselves. We saw the extremes from seedy Venice beach to 9210 Beverley Hills. Spent all day at "Six Flags Magic Mountain" park in Santa Clarita just above Los Angeles. It's known for having the most roller coasters in one park, I felt sick just looking at them but Phoebe and Alan were grinning from ear to ear in anticipation. I did do the water rides, I'm quite happy to get soaked for entertainment, but I left the high octane rides to Al and Phoebs. Bit of a travel day today down the west coast, BUT, we did make a stop at Solvang which is a very small place, originally a Danish settlement. It is full of classy gift shops, bakeries, craft shops, wine tasting places and cafés. Buildings were very Danish and few windmills thrown in. Very touristy but in a classy, pleasant way. Ha ha Elephant Seals are so funny! We went to the Elephant Seal Rookery near San Simeon this afternoon. Elephant Seals have funny trunk like noses which wobble as they move. The rather strange and funny noise they make by snorting through their noses made us all laugh. To move they wiggle like a caterpillar ,using their flippers as well, this makes their blubber jiggle which is very funny. Me, mum and dad could watch them all day as they fight each other by bang...
