The Wandering Rupa
The Drive from Kroombit to Airlee is about 12 hours so that was spent nursing goat and mechanical bull-induced bruising, hangovers and watching Finding Nemo. We did stop off, in Rockhampton - the beef capital of Oz - for a spot of bare-foot lawn bowls - I ask you!
Rockhampton is right on the Tropic of Capricorn so we've all got "humidity hair" and we're all sweaty and very unattractive (hard to believe I know) and we all just wanted to get there but we made the best of our bowling experience - especially Emma who has a fierce competative streak and took it all a bit seriously!
Anyway - we arrived at Airlie and checked ourselves in and got out on the razzle dazzle to Paddy Shenanigans (or Shaddy Penanigans - as I was calling it by the time we staggered out). Airlie is a cool little place. It has a man-made lagoon over-looking the beach which is amazing for us Brits who can't tolerate the heat in the afternoons. We've got a couple of nights here before we're off sailing on the Whitsundays.
