The Wandering Rupa
Well as you can probably tell from the date of this entry compared to the date of the last one I haven't updated my journal for a while - sorreeee. It's been really hard to cram everthing in so the journal has fallen by the way-side somewhat. Hey Ho!
From Barrington Tops (which was fantastic! I did end up staying outside for the night but once the obligatory drinking games set-off there wasn't too much sleeping happening!) we carried on to Byron Bay. Byron is described as "a small, relaxed seaside town where locals enjoy a variety of alternative lifestyles" and is the most Easterly point of Oz. It's got Australia's most powerful lighthouse and a few of us took a trip up there at 5am to watch the sunrise with a few bottles of cheap bubbly - it was really, really beautiful.
It was a really lovely place and we arrived on St Pats day and checked into a hostel that was about 3/4 full of Irish backpackers so the party mood was in full swing! It was decided that - because of the time difference it had been decided that when St Pats day ended in Oz, it was really only just beginning in Ireland so we celebrated for two days by lounging by the pool with beers before going over to Cheeky Monkeys. Cheekys is a ace little bar where you're forced off you chairs from 10pm to allow the tables to become dance floors - much fun, green beer and cheesy music enjoyed by all!
