After a quick morning stroll around Talkeetna in the rain we headed north towards Carlo Creek, a spot not far from Denali Park. We stopped at Cantwell for lunch. Luckily we chose the right place to eat as upon further inspection the other venues were less than acceptable. Fortunately these clouds cleared enough for us to see the snow, those beautifully covered mountains were truly spectacular. The view was also assisted by the fact that the vegetation had changed to a flatter alpine plain meaning that the trees were no longer lining the roadside. At this venue, accommodation was log cabins backing onto a swiftly flowing glacial stream. Some wildlife around our cabin appeared to be squirrels. Our purpose for coming here was to go to Denali National Park, which was organised for early tomorrow. Hopefully we will spend the day to go bear and other wildlife spotting, as well as get a great view of the Denali Mountain, Mt McKinley, the highest mountain in the USA.

Ken Aitken Great trip so far by the sounds of it. How are you going with the road signs?
