Today was a short 125 mile trip back to Anchorage. We diverted to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Centre where we were able to get closer to Bears (brown and black), Moose, Caribou, Elk, Musk ox, Lynx, Eagle, Bison etc.... For lunch we diverted into Girdwood (a ski resort) where we enjoyed a tasty lunch from The Bake House. Just before Anchorage we stopped off Potters Marsh, a coastal bird sanctuary. Unfortunately there were not many birds around. Maybe the fact that right next to the sanctuary was a gun range (the sounds of high powered rifles could constantly be heard) may have meant that the birds were not so keen to be around... We are staying at Somerset B & B, lovely accomodation that backed onto a walking track which took you alongside a creek to a beautiful recretional park with a lake. Deb and Graeme were very lucky to see a beaver at work in the lake. Another day we achieved our 10,000 steps.. Woohoo...
