The day started early with a sad farewell to the DAWES - Eric (the blog-meister) and Gill (Pom Pom lady)- who were returning to the UK.Wattie (if your reading this) - can they have a coffee at Chez Millar when they turn up to collect car please!!!....
With the support team reduced - space was tight in the car.In order to save space - some consideration was given to towing David off the back of the support truck to reach the start point in order to save space - however Mike decided his career prospects in theh police may be limited if caught so this idea was quickly abandoned. So after a very cosy journey with 4 adults, 3 bikes and various other sundry items crammed into the car we set off on the second day of the second leg of TMP.
After a slow start where David loosened up the old shoulders from the previous days efforts and TMP was on its way again.
With reduced numbers to support the big man (Nick, Lynn and Mike) the team decided to think creatively and Nick hatched a plan to provide Tour de France style on the move support.Using an arm signal (not the two fingered variety) - Mike drove the truck to hand vital equipment to the team.Nick and Lynn tried to perfect the application of cycle helmet and glasses on the move - however after nearly removing David's eyeball they decided that more practice in the car park was probably required.
More hills and speed records achieved today and the sun turned it on for the team.
Hamish not feeling too good today - which he generously shared with his parents in the car on the way over (not sure how good Meg and Al are with projectile vomit in a small confined space???...)
Once again the catering services were excellent _thanks Meg - we know that Al doesn't actually do these despite the royal we....)
We finished the day driving to Cromwell to stay in our new base for the next 3 nights - the fabulous Pisa Range Lake Resort- thanks to Andrew for hi s generous support for TMP.
