Why people would want to live here is beyond me already!! It rains, blows a gale and stinks of cow 24/7.. Of course I'm talking about John O'Groats, we made it safely.
After ripping myself away from my bed at 4 o'clock this morning we were kindly given a lift to Southampton airport by Giles in which we would catch a flight to Edinburgh. The flight was great only about an hour... I was complaining about unreal toothache, dads hip is about to give way (apparently) so a good start all round!!
We then waited for about 2 hours at Edinburgh which gave me some time to catch up on some sleep by sprawling out over the gate chairs to many passengers annoyance! We then boarded a Logan air flight in a small prop aircraft and we were in for a hairy flight! The wind in wick was reaching close to 40mph and the landing definitely reflected that.
After arriving we called a taxi to get us to our final destination John O'Groats, our final destination and the starting point of this massive adventure and what a place it is too. Extremely bleak this time of year constant 40mph winds battering against the house and rain that leaves you in unbelievable amounts of pain! Fighting for our lives in the bitter cold we reassembled our bikes and retreated back in doors for a well deserved rest!
A couple of hours later we spoke to Gordon (our bed and breakfast host) and asked for local restaurants. He kindly took us to a hotel, I had haddock and dad had a steak pie. We were going to start our way through the malt whiskey list however there were over 100 types and we realised we are cycling over 70 miles tomorrow so thought best not!
So now we are just chilling in our room settling down to eastenders and thinking about our fate tomorrow!
So far so good, now get us on those bikes!!!
Miles today = 0.0
Miles overall = 0.0
Miles To Go = 1000
