Well we made it. Today we woke at 330am so the porters could make their train. It was tough I could not eat much at that point between the altitude and the hour. By 5 we were at the entrance gate where we waited for a little under an hour. Then we charged for 2 hours and made it to the sun gate around sunrise. Suprisingly, we had a clear view for moments at a time of machine pichu. Our guide said this was rare.
We then descended into the ruins and had an hour and a bit tour before expliring the site on our own for a bit.
It was such a sense of accomplishment and I could not wipe the smile off my face. I also belt like I enjoyed it more then the bus trippers it was such a great end to the trek. Even though the site was great all of us were happy to head down to town. Toilets. And pizza. The food on the trek was great but we all needed a bit of comfort food. We are now riding the train back to the bus to get back to the Cuzco hotel and a shower. And for me a shave. I am so inbred of both.
So of the 14 people to showed up for the trek 10 finished and o was one of them. There is something immensely satisfying on accomplishing something that you were not sure you could. And I was the second oldest person on the trek.
Anyway that is it for my elation at the moment. Yoot toot to civilization showers and razors.
Oh and the feel of a cold beverage in your mouth after 4 days of lukewarm and hot liquids is indescribable.
