The Adventures of Annie, Rys & Jo
This is our last India entry (we breathe a sigh of relief!) as we decided to cut our time in India a bit shorter!
After Agra, we travelled to Chandigah, which was another interesting train journey. We were packed in a train with a lot of Indian men, which we have some quite funny video footage of! Chandigah was vey different from any other place in India we had been as it is India's only planned city. It is divided into different sections so it feel a bit like a military camp. There wasn't really much to see there, but there were fewer beggars and tuk tuk drivers, which was refereshing. We also had a touch of delhi belly so spent a whole day in our hotel room, where we luckily had a TV nad manged to get through 5 films.
Next we went up to Shimla, which is quite far north. We were able to relax up here and enjoy some walking without being stopped or stared at constantly.
Our bus journey down to Delhi, which should have been fine on a deluxe, air conditioned night bus was anything but! The air conditioning above Annie's seat decided to leak the whole 9 hour journey and when I say leak, I mean that she was soaking wet by end of it! The bus driver did absoutely nothing about it so we arrived in Delhi at 5am, soaking wet with nowhere to stay or go and not in a very good mood! We also arrived in the middle of a monsoon. The day did get better thought as we hit the markets (after being lied to yet again by a tuk tuk driver who took us to a ridiculously expensive shop an dmade u spay him for it!) and bought lots of very cheap jewellery.
Delhi is a really nice city, lively with lots of markets and good places to eat. Unlike the hotel we stayed in, which had a tree grwoing in to the bathroom and the walls were dripping wet!
Our next entry will be from Hong Knog-woohoo!
Hope everybody is enjoying the heat wave in the UK!
Lots of love
Annie and Rys

Final thought of India:
Mentally and physically challenging but a completely worthwhile trip as it opens your mind up to a very different culture and is an amazing experience apart from the 'dirt, smog and urine!'
