The Adventures of Annie, Rys & Jo
Hello from India!!!
WE have finally found an interent place that doesn't work on India time (VERY SLOW)!! WE hope you enjoy the photos we have up loaded, but really no words or pictures can explain the experiences we are having out here!!
WE arrived in Mumbai really with no idea what to expect but our attitude was nothing would stand in our way, not the beggars, the heat, the crazy and very annoying tuk tuk drivers or the local trains!!!
The whole of india seems completely male and the staring has gone beyond a joke, but we are managing to laugh it off, just!! Its soo difficult because you can't work out what they are thinking or if they are nice or just plain creepy!!
Food is probably our biggest shock, the diet consisting of Cheese toasties, veg rice and lately we have ventured to mild veg curry!! Only been sick twice and the toiulet behaviour is soo far so good!!
Mumbai was pretty awful, and we have just seen the news and a monsoon has hit we are soo glad to be out!! WE had a close encounter with a shanti town town and wow, words can not discribe how lucky we feel to live in England and yes even Southampton!!
Took a sleeper train to Ajmer, a taotal of 21hours no air con and I think we can safely say never again!! However we did get proposed to, the guys got on their knees and after they all clapped very weird!!!
Carys awoke to a lady grabbing at her money belt which apart from Annie's Tuk Tuk incident is the worst thing that has happened!!
We managed to watch the sEngland game, and went to bed absolutely gutted, but seeing Beckham is always a pleasure!!
Next to Pushkar our Favourite place so far!! However when annie was rammed by a holy cow in to a holy lake it was not quite so fun!!
Evening meals over the lake in roof top cafe's and finally seeing other westeners was amazing!! The sunsets, the starry skies basically the moments that make the hardships worthwhile!!
WE have now reached a place near the order of Packistan, a desert town called Jodphur, (yes it is where riding pants were named after), trying to find hotels with air con as heat is unbelievable!!! Looking forward to a beer!!!!!
England seems a world away!! Especially as there was no alcohol, meat or eggs in Ajmer or Pushkar, bizzare we know how did we cope!!!!
We can't describe the smells, the poverty, the fact cows wanders every street, and we regularly see camels and monkeys!! Or how the children begging on the trains break our hearts!!
All we can say is we are soaking it all up and making the most of our experience!! Rising to the challenges each day brings!!!
Miss you all heaps, but this is a trip of a life time!!!
Lots of Love
Annie and Rys
xx
