The Adventures of Annie, Rys & Jo
Hello there, we are sooo sorry that we have neglected to update you but we have just been having too much fun!!!
The itinery has been the following:
Flight to Shanghai to soak up the Bund and its architecture, see the museum, the old town and the ever growing Pudong! An amazing city soo different to what we expected. Even if it is now sinking due to extreme devlopment!!
We also met up with Carys' brother Spencer also known as our tour guide and took a ride on the Electromagnetic railways, wow!!!!!!
Then a 1st class sleeper train up to Beijing to blitz the very dominant, grey city preparing for the Olympics!!!
Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace and the GREAT WALL OF CHINA!!!! It was all impressive and full of history but the wall truely is a wonder of the world more impressive than we could have imagined!!! Toboganning down it afterwards however wasn't quite sooo cultural!!! Great fun though!!!
Then another overnight train to Xi'an to take in the Bell Tower, grand city wall and the TERRACOTTA WARRIORS!!! The warriors are definately worth a look!!!
From there we few to Chengdu, it is soo funny on the map we pictured a rural town but tiny places on the map in CHina actually have populations of millions!!! Chengdu was where we managed to see some Giant Panda's and two new borns, soooooooooooo cute!!!!!!!!
Then another flight on to Lijiang right down near Burma!!! We couldn't get on the same plane so Spencer came on a flight 20minutes later which ended up having two aborted landings and ran out of fuel o the runway!!! Perhaps a very lucky escape!! Lijiang was gorgeous until the Chinese toursist get up, from there we headed to the Leaping Tiger Gorge, for a 3 day trekk the weather was perfect and it is officially our favourite place in the world!!!
From there it was a nervous flight to Chongquing, to jump on a 3 day cruise boat (not as glam as it sounds) to sail down the Yangzi river and see the 3 Gorges, finishing up at the vast and famous 3 Gorge Dam, its 2km wide and 175m high!!!
Finally a bus to Wuhan and a flight to Guangzhou then a bus over the border to Hong Kong!!! (More Cosmopolitans i the Armani bar, and relaxing in the Four Seasons!!!
We fly to Quito tonight!!!!
Sorry there is no real discription but as you can see it would be impossible to review it all! China in a nutshell is being biult as we speak, the next superpower for sure!! The fact there is no word for privacy in Chinese Mandarin is very obvious, you can chat to your friend when going to the toilet!!!
Miss you all sorry there are no photos but unfortunately the camera had disappeared !!!! Gutted!!!
