Hey everyone
As tempting as it was to have a lie in this morning, we decided to get up early again and make the most of our final morning in Kuala Lumpur. We grabbed some breakfast and walked to the Lake Gardens, and ate our breakfast sitting next to a big lake, watching people jog past. It was a long and tiresome walk, and made so much more tiresome because the temperature was still up in the mid 30s. We then decided to go to the National Museum of Malaysia as it was nearby. Costing a massive 40p each to get in, it wasn't exactly massive but it was good enough and we could get around all of it in the time we had. After learning all about the history of Malaysia, we went back to the hotel, packed our bags, jumped in a minibus and set off for Port d*** on.
An hour and a half later, in a very cramped minibus, we arrived at a resort just outside Port d*** on and right on the beach. We checked in, dropped our bags in our rooms and had an explore of the resort. It had a lovely pool, which despite not being heated was very warm, and a couple of jacuzzis but annoyingly they were out of order. There was also a tennis court, basketball court, a karaoke bar, and a volleyball net on the beach (about 10 metres away from the pool). We spent most of the afternoon by or in the pool, listening to ipods and reading books out of the pool, and playing games and attempting handstands in the pool.
In the evening we had a barbeque on the beach, and after a very, very long wait food started going on the bbq. There was a lot of different food, but we weren't a fan of the malaysian chicken sausages or the crab balls. Fortunately, the drumsticks and lamb chops made up for the stranger items, and christina even tried corn on the cob... and liked it! She still doesn't like sweetcorn though. The plastic cutlery wasn't very effective at cutting the lamb, so Christina and Sophie had to use their teeth to pull the meat from the bone and their hands to rip off the fat. This was a messy sight, and made even more messy when they decided to share each lamb chop. After devouring as much food as we could, a few of us ran back to the pool and had a dip before it closed at 10pm. The water was still warm, and the fairylights around the pool along with the stars above us made it a memorable experience.
A few slices of watermelon later, it was time for bed and we went back to our room to recover from the long day. From trekking across Kuala Lumpur and visiting a museum in the morning, to relaxing by the pool by the beach in the afternoon, to a beach bbq in the evening, it had been a long but fun day. Xxx
