Hello everybody
I've got some time - and access to a pc - to update a little SO: no more talk about accidents. We got a new van less than 36 hours after our little mishap and are back on the road (although I do not intend going anywhere that only has unsealed roads !!!!) We crossed from Picton (Sth Island) to Wellington (Nth Island) a couple of days ago and spent some time quietly in Wellington after a couple of long days driving. The scenery is still spectacular, but we still have to drive for miles and miles to get anywhere. There has been so much rain that in many places the roads have either been partly - or completely - washed away and there have been many landslides, rockfalls and tree slides. It's all part of how it is over here. The upside to this amount of rain is that the waterfalls - and there are now many of them - are spectacular.
Now we are nearing Rotorua and some magnificent looking national parks. This is an area of much volcanic and earthquake activity so it should be very interesting. We are also going to look at the geysers and mineral pools and whatever else takes our fancy.
I'm going to sign off now before the money runs out. I hope everyone is well and that the weather is not too ghastly, wherever you are.
Lots and lots of love to everyone.
Issy (and Ian)
