Today I attended SACS Founders' Day, the oldest school in South Africa, established 1829. It was a moving ceremony recounting the history of SACS and we are priviliged to have such a fine school which our boys can attend. This is the extract which Adriaan delivered during the ceremony:
These were all building blocks in the history of our school.
However…
We must never take what we have for granted. We must remember the generations of students before us who laid the foundations of our school.
May you travel with ease and safety into the future!
May the strong south-easterwinds
The brilliant sunshine
The slanting sleety rain
Bring you days of joy and friendship here on the slopes of the mountain.
May you continue to cherish the age old values and traditions steeped in the stone of this beautiful campus
May the quiet and the calm of the green and gracious space be with you always.
May SACS pulse with pace of innovation, creativity, rhythm and reasoning as you are challenged
May you hold fast to the ideals that are integral to the ethos of this proud, progressive school.
May you, the boys of SACS of today, tomorrow and of course yesteryear ever be.
