Today's the day we go to see Christ the Redeemer.
After curing our hangovers with a nice hearty breakfast, we embarked on our journey to see 'Chris' (that's how they prounounce Christ in portugeese.
Totally out of our character we decided we would do the 2.5hr hike up the very steep hill to see Christ (preparing for the inca trail)! 5 minutes into the journey we were told that it is not safe for 4 women touists to do the climb as there are many robberies! So we followed the other tourist ad took the Corcovada cog tram train up a very very steep incline hil and I think we all were secretly thinkig thankgod we didn't walk and I think it would of been a 5hr hike for us!
Once at the top the view was breathtaking, you can see the whole of Rio and it's a beautiful city.
The statue is 30m high and weighs over 1000 tons. It was constructed as part of Brazil's centenary independence celebrations.
The statute is soooo high up in Rio that you can pretty much see it in the hilltops from anywhere in Rio.
From Christ we decided to visit Ipanema Market. Suprisigly the market sellers don't hassle or bug you infact it's like they are not even bothered If you buy anything!
Got our brazil bracelets : ) going to collect one from each country we visit.
Deva had a bad day, her bank seem to of blocked her card even though she told them she's away.
We had our first big struggle ordering food in a restaurant! Really need to brush up on out Spanish/portugese.
Quote of the day:
'me and you look like father and daughter' Reena
'i sprinkle a dollop of sugar on my food to stop myself eating anymore' Tanna.
