Recoleta is one of the poshest neighbourhoods. Its great for people watching especially the heavily made-up ladies in their classy clothes walking tiny dogs on Chanel leads! They expect you to move out of their pathway and are quite happy to barge you, if your in their path. I've been told the fierce grannies like to use their walking sticks as weapons.
The streets here remind me of London Knightsbrige, Sloan square type of look. All the designer shops and high rise French looking appartments.
Recoleta cemetery is the resting place of some of Argentina's leading celebs including Evita herself. The tomb stones here are stunning, and huge! One of the stones looked like a mini-church. There seems to be competition between different famillies of who can afford the nicest tomb stone and display.
Some of them are years old, you can see the cobwebs, inches of dust and shattered glass. It's very common to have the whole family burried together, so often you can see over 6 cofffins resting.
Next stop is the 'metal flower' a modern art piece which is 'supposed' to open and close at sunrise.
Finally booked out football tickets, all that's left is to get the shirt. Florida street is the place to buy them, it's a huge long pedestrian road with hippie markets and plenty of shops. After 3 long hours of bargaining (indecisive girls that we are) we all purchased Argentina footy shirts.
Finally Reens stepped out of her comfort zone and tried some street food style hotdog with Leo, her new Carne buddy!
Learning from yesterdays mistake, it was time for an evening powernap before a night out!
