As ever, getting used to local conditions after a few days. Belize buses? Phht! A breeze. Don't know what all the fuss was about.
Belize City - supposedly hardcore - was fine and included the usual sweaty walk, but this time to a boat that would deliver me to a tropical island. When I got here my accommodation had obviously closed down for... what? The summer? The hot bit of summer? An onshore wind? Who knows. Still, found somewhere else and the picture is the view from my cabana. Had worse. And the food is the nicest so far.
Anyway, I've made some decisions that have had to take into account my age, fussiness and the danger of piles if I do many millions of miles on chicken buses. They're fine, but this wreck of a body requires more comfort. And can I really be bothered with the hassle of changing bus stations in mega cities with no street names? Also, I'll easily run out of time, so El Salvador and Honduras have been sacked - it's Nicaragua after Belize, with Panama added.
All good. Track of the day just came on in the cafe I'm in. 'Twas a Dad favourite, but I still hold a soft spot for The Stylistics (classic suit mix) anyway.
Cheers.

Cath Dodgy wifi lost my last comment so I'll keep it brief; v envious. Presuming u found yr way to Caye Caulker. Lovely. Have a cold one in the sandpit for me. If u like it there, make a little effort to get to Roatan (Hounduras). Little bit of island heaven & mamas cafe mocha is legendary. Very envious so far. Apart from the chicken bus. The Honduran journeys are longer & on older (knackered American school buses) though, so stock up on the pile cream if your plan is to head that way! :-). Tikal not far from where u are too. Worth a side trip unless u are all Mayan templed out already. Have fun x
John Martin Hi Cath - how are the Canaries? I have indeed had a cold one on the Spit. Although rum and coke goes down a little easily, so today's a 'work' day, sorting out stuff and only at sundown will I allow myself to imbibe. Honduras and it's gorgeous transport system will not detain me I'm afraid. It's Nicaragua next... (Was considering Tikal (btw), but the heat would have made it too arduous.) Have fun you as well x
Moshy "danger of piles if many more miles" - ee oop, poet laureate's here :D
