Siquijor 21st May - 23st May (Day 78 - 80)
Hellloooooo
We arrived on Siquijor quite late and spent our first night in a local guesthouse where the rooms had a strong prison cell feel and awful food but fortunately we were only staying there for 1 night, (the lonely b*stard strikes again). The next day we hired a local tricycle (Motor bike with sidecar which 3 people can sit in + one on back of the bike) driver to take us around some of the beach hotels on the island. After a frustrating morning of only finding fully booked hotels we eventually found a hotel in a very quiet spot on a small beach (sandugan) which had a family beach house for 4 people with a kitchen - perfect for us...
We spent the rest of the day on the beach, in the sea, climbing coconut trees, drinking coconut juice and chilling in hammocks...it was exactly what we were looking for and the reason for going to the Philippines. Later that day after an awesome sunset we had a power cut; so we spent the rest of the evening sitting by the beach around candles listening to music whilst drinking local rum and sprite.
The next day we headed to a local shop (sari sari).......I say shop....I really mean wooden hut with a kid who was selling eggs and a few other bits and bobs and then headed back to the house to cook a feast of eggs and rice. We then spent the rest of the day chillaxing by the beach which was essentially deserted apart from the odd stray dog, so we had it all to ourselves.
That evening we had some food in the resort restaurant and then packed our bags ready to move on the next day to get the ferry to Negros, a larger island an hour away from Siquijor
Take care x
