Visited Tian'anmen sq and the forbidden city today. The square was pretty big, and very windy! The city/palace was awesome. The roofs are so ornate, as are the lion statues. Learnt about the Emperor and his 3000 concubines - ladies from which he chose 1 each night, to play scrabble with ;)
I witnessed my first encounter of the non-existent Chinese nappy- instead toddlers have a slit in their trousers and just squat wherever they are when nature calls! No.2's included!
Rode the subway, which is so much more modern than the tube, and a lot cheaper too - 20p a journey - they reduced it in order to get more people to use public transport - now there's a good idea Boris!
Lunched at a centre for those with intellectual disabilities, which intrepid supports. They put on a show for us and gave us a Chinese symbol calligraphy lesson, in which I made you a one of a kind birthday card Mum!
Caught a Kung Fu show this eve which was fab (tho not so fab was arriving too late to get popcorn!)
Great wall tomorrow.
