It's our last morning in Zhenzhou, we fly to Ghuanzhou this afternoon to stay at the White Swan Hotel. Trev helped us make a list of things that we might report about yesterday and this morning's activities. Ahn has continued to entertain us as long as he's awake (he's napping at the moment):
1. Doug has continued to mispronounce everything, but he does it with authority and a good accent. Goins children, do not cringe...read on.
2. Trev was very concerned about the Ahn's non-pooh day yesterday (the things that take up our preoccupation when we have children!), so Ahn got apple juice this morning at breakfast, along with the standard watermelon and cantaloupe. Success! I'm very grateful because I was getting blamed for the sugar cookies I had fed him previously. But Teri had googled constipation in toddlers, and it said ANY change in foods will cause that kind of thing. Nevertheless, Dad feels much better now (whew!).
3. We took Ahn to the coffee shop at the Holiday Inn next door for dinner last night, and Ahn feasted on our Chinese noodles - he's very good at eating and doesn't turn his nose up at anything. He is SUCH a flirt, smiling at the waitresses and then watching them after they leave. It's a consistent activity, and he's got it down.
4. We took a taxi to the Henan Provincial Museum yesterday. We got in free with our passports, which is good because the exhibit was being remodeled and there were only 2 rooms that were displayed. Ahn was great in the backpack again - it was incredibly HOT and HUMID outside, but he didn't complain (like we did). He continues to be very flexible.
5. He had a great bath time last night - so much different than the previous two. He was in the tub about 30 minutes and didn't want to get out - a lot of laughter, splashing, and fun.
6. Other good news: After Ahn fell asleep last night, Trev transferred him to the crib. He did really well, didn't wake up until 5:15AM (a little too early for the parents probably). So who knows, it might not be too traumatic when they are finally settled in at home.
7. Teri & Trev received all of the Chinese documents for Ahn's citizenship and adoption. As far as the Chinese are concerned he is now Ahn Paul Goins; and the official "no return policy" is now in effect. The language is very poignant; Ahn was officially abandoned, a "foundling", and his place of birth and parents are unknown - but we know better than the Chinese government - he was meant for our family. Teri just brought in Ahn's Chinese passport (his picture is adorable!), and the abandonment article from the newspaper - it's legally required in China. It is sooooo sad - it doesn't even look like him because he was so thin at one month old.
8. We are off to the airport soon for Ahn's first flight. We might have a later update.
