Our day started at 4:30am this morning. Ahn slept through the night. Although we are not sure that will be the case tonight. We are on nap number 3. He is a very inquisitive boy with excellent fine motor skills. He loves to pick things up with his two little fingers and examine them. We have discovered that almost anything can be made into a toy and enjoyed for about 15 minutes (the hotel key card, the cheerios container, a napkin, etc). He seems to already be taking after Trevor in that he doesn't like to sit still for long, especially in the hotel room. We have shed many o tears already. I look forward to when we can sit, chill and look at a book.
Yesterday, we took our first family photo and, today, it was included in our official adoption agreement. Despite the trama of the day, everyone looked great in the photo. A true rarity. As far as the Chinese government is concerned, we have officially accepted Ahn Zhen Feng into the Goins family. All families went through a photo session, shaking hands with a ranking politbureau member. Later, we had another family photo taken at the notary office with the PR flag of China as our backdrop. Got to keep the PR machine cranking. Unfortunately, Uncle Micah, you will have to wait for that photo till we get home because we don't have your Dad's camera cord to upload the photo.
In terms of parenthood, we are still trying to figure things out. But then again what new parent isn't. It is amazing how much love you can have for a little guy that you have only known for 24 hours. Trevor says I already have the mom bounce and sway down pat. We have experienced more than 1 moment where we have no idea what he wants or needs, yet the crying continues. Those are the hardest. We guess he is going through some greiving which we know is natural and will pass. Instead we focus on the big picture and enjoy the moments when he is laughing or sleeping. He is the cutest little guy!!
The next two days are appointment free. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and we can venture to the park. We love reading the message postings. We cannot express how much we appreciate everyone's love, support and excitement.
More to follow as the adventure continues...
