May Day
G'Day mates. Time for an update as requested by several people. Thanks for giving me the incentive to write…
Since Hunter Valley, I've been celebrating ANZAC-day, sailing and visiting Andrew's ranch yet again with another bunch of people and another rental car. Somewhere in the middle there's been work and drinking. Also, we've been training now more for the upcoming AFO (Australian Floorball open), which we will now definitely attend with Andrew. The draw is clear and Glebe FBC will play Wollongong, Bondi, Victoria and Wellington teams in the first phase of the tournament. Bondi and Wollongong we know quite well and should be able to beat both. The teams from other states are always a mystery. One can expect a fierce opposition as those players come from far away and therefore are usually able to get only one team together for the tournaments. That one team usually consists of the best players in the state, or so I'm told. Teams from Perth area are usually the toughest, but this year I hope a NSW team will win…hopefully our team. We got some great additional players to strengthen our team - namely one Swedish superleague referee and a Dutch defenseman. The AFO will start on May 19th in Wollongong Hockey Centre. Stay tuned for that!
I just realized that there's five weeks left for me in Australia. At the same time the winter has really descended upon Sydney and I have had to dig out my heater for the first time since last September. Days are still quite warm - around 20 degrees - but the nights, evenings and morning are very chilly. Temperatures can drop below 10 degrees at night, and this means it is just as cold inside as it is outside. As the end is drawing near, there are things you need to sort out. These include cancelling various memberships, perhaps my bank account and selling things I can't or won't take with me to Finland. At the minute I am trying to sell our Xbox360 but for some reason I have managed to mess up two potential deals. However, I will continue with that project till it's sold. I have also started applying for some jobs I've found online. Having said that, I will keep all my options open even here in the Asia-Pacific region.
All I have to say about the recent trip to the ranch is that we saw another wombat there in the bush and this time did not kill it! Some improvement. It stood still by its hole and was staring at us. When we moved, it finally dove in but had we had a weapon, it would have been two out of two. Not the smartest animal I've come across…as for sailing, we did another day trip to Gosford and went on Ahmed's sailboat. The weather was perfect and the scenery just as beautiful as I remembered it to be. The only picture added this time is from that day. I will get back to you after AFO at the latest. Enjoy your spring.
Cheers.
