It was another massive day today. When we sit down in the morning to plan out what we are going to do I think we over estimate our abilities.
We headed down to the pier on the Hudson River and caught the water taxi down to the financial district. We had organised a walking tour over the Brooklyn Bridge and through Dumbo, which is the district under the Manhattan overpass. Our guide was a wanna be actor, or really just a sad old broadway queen so we got the all singing all dancing tour. Not really our kind of thing, then when we got to Dumbo he just finished it without taking us to see any of the sights.
We walked ourselves back over the bridge and into Manhattan again and walked through Chinatown, which was nuts! Loads of people whispering to you 'you wanna buy a watch' I thought that stuff only happened on TV.
We went to Kats Diner which is the one on that Meg Ryan really enjoyed her sandwich on the movie When Harry Met Sally. Elstub had a massive Rueben sandwich and I had an equally massive turkey one. We tried to find the deli that Des had told us about where the rueben sandwich originated but it has closed down so this was a very delicious compromise.
We then walked down to Soho and had a look at the Kardashians store, Dash. There was not a Kardashian or a Kanye in sight, in fact the store was closed, so it was just a quick Kodak moment and then we were on the move again to the 9/11 memorial.
After that we went down to Battery Park and took the water taxi over to the Statue of Liberty. She was amazing. Loads of photos and then it was back to the pier where we got on the boat just over 8 hours ago.
A quick stop at the supermarket and then to the Port Authority to arrange our trip to the airport then home and in bed exhausted by 8pm. These have been very big days.
