Hi we're now in windy Welly and it certainly has been! Just to fill you in, on Friday we left Napier and visited Splash Planet a huge water park which was great fun for the kids - I managed not to get wet - the water was freezing and I've been so spoiled by all these hot pools so I just had to sunbathe! We headed towards Palmerston North after lunch and met up with Roger, Zoe and Eve at their house. It was lovely to see them and they treated us to a delicious BBQ! We spent a couple of hours with them catching up and then we drove to the beach house. It was lovely to be in a house but odd not being able to hear the elements. The boys particularly loved playing with Eve's toys and books and Al and I appreciated the sofa, the washing machine and not having to walk to the shower! Thanks once again R, Z and E!! We spent a day on the beach which was 5 minutes walk away but by the end of the day a drizzly sea mist came in and it was quite overcast. Stayed another night but it was grey again the next day so we decided to get on the road to Wellington and bring our ferry crossing forward a day to allow us an extra night on South Island. So back in the van and found another child-freindly campsite, got here lunchtime and it was glorious here. Drove into the city centre and walked along the waterfront where they were having a Chinese New Year festival, it's a really lovely area they've obviously spent a lot of money on it. Then we went to Te Papa the museum which is absolutely huge. Back to the site, had a really windy night - the campervan was wobbling! This morning we headed back into the city, it was a bit grey so we went straight to the museum and spent about 3 hours in there - it's really kid-friendly. Then we went on this cable car that you can see in the picture which took us up to the botanic gardens with wonderful veiws of the city . Back to the site and early night as we've got to be at the ferry port at 7.30 tomorrow morning - looking forward to it it's supposed to be a beautiful crossing so we're hoping the skies might clear.
