I realise I'm not very good at updating this blog, truth is- I forget I even have it until someone back home reminds me! I spent this weekend in North Yorkshire with my ex-housemate Helen, whose grandparents live up there and invited us to come stay. It was lovely and the most perfect weather ever!
We drove up to Ripon on Friday night and was treated to a proper Yorkshire fish and chip supper, Saturday morning Helen and I walked into the city to have a look at the cathedral and marketplace. Even though Ripon is small, it has city status because of the cathedral. After breakfast we drove to Fountains Abbey to have a walk around and look at the ruins. The most amazing ruins I have seen yet- hugely impressive!
Following that we had lunch in a pub in a nearby town and then proceeded to drive through the countryside stopping to look at some things, but mainly just enjoying the views. In the early evening, we made a trip to Ripley, the cutest little village ever! Apparently it was world famous icecream- but I've never heard of it :) Early night, then tomorrow we head to York and a Castle in Derbyshire :)
