Howdy all. Just a quick update to let you know whats been going on. I've been out and about, had a holiday to Mui Ne (again) with my school, with the staff. All the other foreign teachers pulled out, so it was just me and a whole lot of Vietnamese. Turned out to be a lot of fun - a beautiful empty beach, some expensive-looking resort with comfy villas overlooking the ocean and lots of sunshine. And I was bitten by a monkey.
I'm going on my first Vietnamese 'road trip' tonight, to a place called Long An. I know nothing about the place, other than its about an hour or two outside the city, and a large stretch of the journey is on a narrow dirt road. I was invited there by a Vietnamese family that I teach. They're a great bunch of people and I said I'd be happy to join them. Besides, I've been itching to take my bike out of Ho Chi Minh. Mini road-trip.
The same family insisted that I go with them to Mui Ne next weekend too. Free holidays, gotta love 'em. Then at the end of the month I plan on heading up to the highlands to nice little place called Dalat. Its a place thats pretty hyped by a lot of the locals here, I'm hoping it'll live up to its expectations.
Aside from that, there's been no major dramas with the bike, just a few bumps here and there. I'm illegally driving a rented motorbike without a license, so its pretty much a case of hit-and-run whenever I get into an accident. Like this morning, for instance. But I'm fairly sure it was the other person's fault, so its ok. Hard to tell when there's not really any traffic rules to begin with...
Taynos out.
