So after a long & bumpy ride from Phnom Penh on a private bus, we arrive at a local village called Chombok (you can google it). We meet some of the locals & are advised that 2 families are giving up their houses for us to sleep in tonight. The houses are very basic, only 2 rooms & a Varandah on stilts, the big room has 2 very thin double-ish mattresses with mozzie nets. That's where 6 of us will sleep. The other room is just for storage. There's no fans, just some windows.
We head to the community centre for the village to have dinner cooked by the local women & to watch the Children of the village perform traditional Cambodian Dancing. Dah, one of the local villagers, tells us about how the Village is used for Eco tourism after they found out that their way if farming was not sustainable & they needed to find a new way to bring in money for the village to survive. This information made me feel a but better about staying in someone else's house, but the villagers weren't that interactive & I don't find the experience that beneficial. Sleeping on a super slim mattress on the floor without a fan or aircon, was quite humbling though & really reminded me just how lucky we are.
The next morning we took a 5k walk to a waterfall just outside the Village. This was truly beautiful. Before we push started our bus once again & headed to Sihanoukville
