After the culture shock that was the Homestay, we headed to my favorite place so far. Sihanoukville. This place is GORGEOUS!!
We arrived on Sunday afternoon, & spent that afternoon wandering along the beach, getting a massage & getting a manicure. We then went to a Cambodian BBQ for the best marinated baby pork ribs of my life!! I was like a fat kid eating with my fingers & picking the ribs clean of all the meat.
Then the party crew (myself, Julia & Paul) went out for a drink along the beach. This turned into buckets & too much dancing & pool. The night coming to an abrupt end after Julia got a but pukey.. Eek! Not before she claimed her free shirt from Monkey Republic (backpackers bar) for buying so many buckets! Hehe..
The next day we were up & on a rickety fishing boat for a day of snorkeling & island hopping in the Thailand Gulf. Julia still wasn't feeling the best, & fed the fish with a chuck over the side of the boat! Eek!.. After our fist snorkel, we headed to Ta Kiev Island. f***ing Beautiful. Sorry, but there's just no other way to describe it. Our guides told us we had an hour for a walk/swim along the semi deserted beach while they cooked us lunch. After a quick dip, Daisy & I decided to go for a wander as the guide told us there was a bar. Next thing you know, we stumbled onto the worlds strongest Absenth distillery & we drinking an Absenth Cocktail from an amazing deck while the owner of the bar was chopping up. Lol. This place was super chilled. We skilled out drinks (difficult, cause they had quite a kick) & wandered back to find lunch waiting for us. Fresh Barra that the guides had caught for us this morning. One of the most amazing meals I've ever eaten in my life. We then jumped back on the boat only to have a bit of a delay as the boat wasn't working. Lol. But the guys fixed it & we were off for our final snorkel before heading back for the day.
Sunburnt & tired we headed out for dinner & drinks for Daisy's birthday the next day (knowing we'd be in Phnom Penh & not in Sihanoukville the next day). We sat on the beach on can chairs that sunk into the ground & sipped on $2 mojitos. YUMMO! Being Daisy's birthday the next day, I splashed out $5 to buy a pack of 6 firecrackers from a young kid hawking them along the beach & we strolled down to the water & he set them off as we all stood around & cheered for Daisy's birthday. It was pretty magical. The crowd started to thin a little, & the remaining party people headed to Monkey Republic for some dancing, drinks & pool. Daisy made friends with the English guy who ran the place & next thing you know, Daisy & I were partying at a beachside bar called Seasions with all the Westerners that live there. Had a great night partying & next thing you know it's 6am & we are stumbling home to prepare for the 7am bus bak to Phnom Penh. Oh what fun that was... Lol.
