I have been in dubai for exactly 1 week and I am totally in love with the place. Its such an exciting city, there is so much construction going on but eventually it will all be done and there will be so many awesome things to do, even though there already is. The weather is great, its not exactly hot but in the daytime you can walk around with a tshirt and jeans on. My apartment is HUGE and I live with a Scottish and irish girl, who've both been here a few years so they've made the place really homely, and they're both lovely.
I started college on Sunday which is the first day of the week and there were 45 people, split in to 3 batches, and the training is called Ab Initio which is latin for 'from the beginning' . there are people from all nationalities, I've made friends with loads of brits, aussies, Canadians and kiwis. We went out for the first time last night and I got really drunk(for a change) and have suffered today, but I got Nando's delivery for lunch and that sorted me out. I can't believe what you can get delivered here, anything from bottled water and milk (or whatever you want from the supermarket) to Subway, macdonalds, pretty much every restaurant delivers. I live in a 20 floor apartment on Sheik Zeyed Road which is about 2 miles from the coast, I have a view facing the sea, and I'm not sure but I think that World construction thingy is directly infront of me (in the sea). Friday's are more like a Sunday in the UK so I don't mind being lazy today and anyway I have to do studying and homework. I've got my uniform which is really not my style, but it's a small price to pay for an amazing job.
We have 2 weeks of safety and emergency procedures training followed by first aid for a week then 2 weeks service training. I should graduate around March 13th and then I'll be 'online' as they say. I'll be able to get flights back to the UK as often as I want them, as there are so many flights daily and not many people want to go there. We can swap trips with other crew, but to be honest I only want to come back every 6 weeks or so.
