Hi all!
So the last couple of days have probably been my favourite! Here's a quick update!
On Sundays we don't do normal classes, instead the kids and counselors all sign up for special activities. These include things such as a slip n slide down a huge hill, grim shaws (which is sliding down a big rock into freezing cold water below!), things such as dock parties, ice cream making, hikes, pilates and yoga, headband and bracelet making, skipping, trips to the Zoo and photography trips. This week one of the options was an activity which had not been done since 1994! Abseiling down a 50m waterfall! Been in the mood for something challenging and daring, of course I decided to do this!!! Rappelling down a sheer rock cliff with water gushing over you is defiantly one of the most thrilling, exciting things ever! Though a little scary at first as it was quite slippery, I ended up having a blast!
Yesterday was also the 4th of July (Independence day) which I learnt is when USA declared themselves separate from Britain in 1776. I also discovered Americans are very patriotic people who love their country very much! There was a lot of singing and "usa" chanting throughout the day. We also weren't required to wear our uniforms and instead got to dress up in red, white and blue. We had a special evening program where we all got transported to a picnic area down the road where we had a carnival. There was a big blow up slide, a blow up jousting ring, the dunk machine, the slip n slide, ring tossing, sac races, face painting, dance parties and pie tossing which turned into almost everyone been covered in whipped cream!!! At the end of the evening, Jim (camp director) did a firework show which was amazing! Overall it was a great night with lots of laughter and fun!
That's it for now! Will keep you updated when more exciting things happen!
