Well I'm now in Washington D.C! It's quite a remarkable city filled with amazing architectural buildings and lots of monuments and museums that are amazing! Washington is famous for it's Smithsonian society. A non profit organization which has over ten museums and are totally free to go to. We spent a full on day visiting the National Museum of Natural History, National Museum of American History, National Museum of American Indians and also the Hirshhorn Art Museum. We also visited the famous monuments such as The White House, The Capitol Building, The Treasury Building, The Library of Congress and The Washington Monument where we enjoyed a free concert at sunset put on by an Army band. We then got to go to the top of The 555ft Washington Monument and get 360 degree panoramic views of the city at night which was gorgeous.
The next day we decided to hire bikes to get to the rest of the sites. I think it's probably the best idea we've ever come up with and it made life so much easier, not to mention that my feet were thankful for it also. We cruised around and visited the Edgar Hoover FBI building, the Lincoln Memorial, Franklin D. Roosevelt and The Thomas Jefferson Memorial. We then crossed the river and went to the Nations most sacred war memorial, The Arlington Cemetery. I've never seen anything like it before! Rows and rows of the same white tombstone as far as the eye can see. We even saw JFK's grave!
Overall I quite like the city of Washington as the buildings have so much history, it's not crowded and things are spread out with lots of parks and green spaces. I also like the fact that your not boxed in or feel claustrophobic within the city. This is because there are building height restrictions and no building is allowed to be taller then the Washington Monument.
Well that's it for Washington! Next stop Atlantic City!
P.S I also had maccas for the first time in nearly 3 months! I was quite disappointed though because it didn't taste as good as I remembered :(.
