So, the 21st and 22nd are basically days that there is no need to write about seeing as I spent it travelling!thursday 21st i got the greyhound from San Diego, walked the 1.5 miles to Union Station, caught the the Flyaway airport shuttle then finally arrived at LAX. Celeb Alert: Johnny Rotten was sat outside the airport looking trampy! Once I checked in I then waited 5 hrs till my 9pm flight, not fun! The flight took about 13 hrs and because of the time difference I arrived in Auckland at 5:30am on Saturday 23rd!! Getting through customs and baggage collection was lengthy and by the time I caught the airbus into the city I arrived at the hostel around 7:30am!
In a bid not to waste the day and to try and beat my jetlag I freshened up then went exploring the city (after a large Starbucks coffee obviously!!) Considering that it is the largest city in the North Island it was pretty easy to get around. The hostel was just off Queen St which is the main street through Auckland CBD, where one side it has the tacky souvenior shops and the other Louis V and Prada! I walked down to the pier and saw some amazing views of the water and of the city itself.
I then wandered to the Sky Tower and thought I would go up there for my first, probably not the best idea when very tired and scared of heights! I got 220 metres up and had a awesome view and they even had seethrough panels which was very scary! I then popped down to the 186 metre level where I had coffee and chocolate cake whilst checking out the view! lush!!!
After that, I wandered back to the hostel and chilled out, watched films, drank some rose and made some friends! This is probably the hardest thing about being a solo traveller - travelling around from one place to another is that you get to know someone, get along, then move on!
