I awoke today to the sound of heavy rain....great!! This is the problem of travelling during the new Zealand winter, you have to expect rain! However, due to my timescale of going places I knew I had to suck it up and go outside!

I decided to get out of Auckland for the day and get the ferry to Devonport which was about 10 minutes away. I have to say, I've been on a fair few ferries while I've been away but this was by far the coldest! No sunbathing unfortunately!! The rain had cleared up by the time I got to Devonport so I wandered around the little seaside town, checking out the pier, sea, very small beach and chilled out reading my book in the sunshine, till it started raining again! I took this as a sign to get the ferry back so headed back to the hostel to chill out. I only lasted until 9pm till I took myself off to bed, I think I must've still been jetlagged! :-(
