Woke up bright and early to go snorkeling and since it was raining this morning it was cancelled . So I went for breakfast right next to casa verde , I ate a omlette with cheese , peppers and bacon and toast. Very good. Then I caught a cab for 9:30 at the jaguar reserve , Because 2 sloths died this week we couldn't go touch them , they were being quarantined until the find out why . We were able to go and play with the monkeys who were jumping all over and friendly . Although one tried to bite me , which didn't hurt. I have pictures of me with a monkey which is sick and what I wanted to see and do from the beginning . They were all howler monkeys . This reserve treats animals that have been hit by cars , and electric wires and neglected . It's great what they do but sad at the sane time what happeneds. This one monkey and his mom got hit by a car and the mom died and the small monkey didn't know what to do so it hid under neath her for two days , until someone came to get the mom and realized her kid has been under her the same time . So there taking care of her. I've been pretty emotional on this trip for many reasons , tears randomly falling out of mostly happiness or sadness when it comes to a story like that. One snake got run over and had 60 stitches put and lots of care, when they are fully recovered they release them back into the natural environment , via national parks and such. I saw jumping viper , rattlesnake , coral snake , pitted viper , bushmaster ( the most venomous ) hemo and neuro toxins , eyelash viper , a 18 ft boa constrictor , spectacle owl , sloth, margays cat . Howler monkeys and a white tail deer .
Then I went to the botanical gardens here , which was cool as well . Soooooo many plants . I tried a chocolate seed from a plant which was awesome , the guy gave me a bunch of fruit from trees to try and they were great . The names i tried are starfish , salac ( snake fruit ) keppel , chpadec , sapodi from south america , mangostein from se asia , cacoe( which was good tasting ) and showed me a dry piece and peeked it and it tastes like dark chocolate minus and sweetness . And then a piece of what his friend made from the seed , it was chocolate and good . and mamboton . Spelling is off for now . He made a bouncy ball from tree sap . Pretty cool .
Then I got a cab back to casa verde . ( ok case verde is central . and puerto vierjo is not big . Having said that. I walked to find headphones and shampoo and conditioner . Expensive . But I need them to not stink and to listen to my music and vibe out. Walked to el dorado ( bar restro) a smiley costa rican rasta takes my order . I chill for a bit , eat have a fruit drink , buy smokes and ask to hook me up with weed. The super chill guy hooks me up with a gram for ten bucks . To much weed but all good . He ended up living years ago in tortuguero and we starting chatting . Besides being actually interested I didn't want it to see bait . He was chill . Walked back to my spot and asked the reception desk if I can smoke it on my hammock . She said yeah . Super chill , so I'm having a coffee on a hammock with my smokes , music , and smoked a joint . Sweet
Fell asleep for a bit and then showered which felt great. The water was Luke warm but was much better than the other place . Now I'm chilling in the lounge having a coffee and my wifi and soon I'll go eat Indian food I believe , right across the street , then maybe pass by chili roja I think for a drink or two and observe people walking by . Haven't seen Laura or kev since bumping into them at breakfast . So I think dinner is solo tonight . They leave in the morning and I'm hoping to be able to say bye at least . Or hit up breakfast with them if they don't go super early. Also depends if I can go snorkeling . I could always rent equipment and go on my own . I should google it lol
