Sunday 22 June - Travel day
After a beautiful day yesterday (both in activities and weather), today was a wet but not cold travel day. Katie made delicious pancakes for breakfast and we topped them with fresh fruit, honey, golden syrup and Nutella.
I packed up my suitcase and said my farewells to Colin, Katie, Elsie and Megan, thanking them for a wonderful stay and wishing them well. Also passing on my best to Michael and Gloria.
I am glad I allowed plenty of time to return the car to the Budget care hire location in the centre of Glasgow, as half the city was closed off for filming of the upcoming JJ Abrams movie, Ghostwriter, starring Samuel L Jackson. With good timing I approached a closed road where there was an attendant and asked how I get to the parking just up the road, confirming it was the Q building. He moved the orange cones and allowed me to drive through to the Budget car park to return my car.
After I return the car keys to the office I put on the rain jacket and walked in the rain down the road to Glasgow Central Station. I decided against hanging out here and made my way directly to the airport catching the airport transfer bus from Buchanan Street. I was able to check in my luggage and made my way through security easily, then picked up some food for lunch and found a quiet place to spend the next hour and a half before my departure gate number was advised.
The flight was quick and easy with a very bumpy descent and landing at Gatwick airport. My luggage came out quickly and the timing to catch the airport shuttle to South terminal and then the Southern Rail train to Clapham Junction with a change to another line to get me to North Sheen was super easy.
I arrived at Kelly and Will's a little before 8pm. We chatted for a few hours and then I headed off to bed.
