Again this little train is travelling through the greens of the Scottish highlands in the middle of the cows and _lots of sheep(!), from Stranraer to Glasgow, only this time we gotta change at Ayr. We booked the tickets at Nir Travel agency at the Gr. Victorian Str. train station, booked the beds to the Caledonian Sleeper as well, and the whole package from Belfast to London (ferry+trains, including the beds on the sleeper train) cost 88£/person. So it was a very reasonable price. I'd call it a bargain.
We're having many hours time to kill in Glasgow, arriving 17.09 & the sleeper train is leaving 23.40. Maybe we'll go and grab smth to eat somewhere and coupla pints. :)
..Btw, all people here just cannot spell our names, which is a bit funny/odd..; everybody just gives up in a coupla seconds and just reads it from the tickets and/or passport - even though anyone at Stena Line STILL didn't manage to get Niina's surname right :D F.ex. there were "lehkoiner"&"lehiloinen" or smth :D
There should be a lounge car on the Caledonian Sleeper, so I think I'll fancy a glass of some good, old whisky before retairing to sleep into our 2 bed berth tonight. ;o)
-- We were in Glasgow at about 17.30. We had great lamb burgers at Ad Lib, across the station, very recommendable, pretty small restaurant! Yum! =) And now we've been having pints at the Toby Jug, just few meters away from Ad Lib. Traditional pub, with cheap prices for pints! :D F.ex. pint of Craigmill Brewery's Avondale amber Ale (very good ale!! Tastes a bit like Fra'ochs' Heather Ale) only 2,45£! :) And many more, like Toby's IPA, just the same price! Very nice place, and just opposite the Central station, so if you have to wait for your trains' departure, like we've had to, be sure to grab a pint here!
Our train leaves for London at 23.40, and yes, I'm still going to have that one, good whisky on the trains' lounge car, my last one on its origins, in Scotland, this time.
--- Having a Bruichladdich (islay single malt) at the Lounge Car. After this going to sleep, and then I'm gonna wake up in London.
