Arrived here this afternoon. Not a city that made any impressions to me, I gotta say. Feels kinda hollow and soulless, in some way. I liked Edinbourgh much more, it had a character, and this doesn't somehow. Ok, this is more of a "working class city", but nevertheless. Our hotel, Citizen M, is a nice, modern kind hotel, clean with simple lines. I like. Went to look for good food/steak, etc. We ended up to the T.G.I Friday's, which was said to be one of the best in here, according to some locals in Trip Advisor. BUT - the result was, that we ordered sirloin steak, which was NOT done as like we ordered, my medium was medium plus & Niina's was too, though ordered as medium minus. AND the worst of it all, it was stiff, not tender at all. So..we sent them back to the kitchen. Had to wait _another 20 mins or so, and they came back, new steaks, but same s*** by their "quality" (!), like the first ones. :-/ So we sent them back again & refused to pay for that s***: certainly NOT worth of 15£!! The kitchen manager tried to suggest to us something else from the menu, but we refused. So, the result was an hours' waiting, 2 servings of s*** and only 1 free Sol/woman. So, do not go to the T.G.I. Friday's, they serve s***ty steaks at least (at least in here)!! Continued to search for food, we ended up to a mediocre Italian restaurant (named Ranti smth), near Hope Str. Had mediocre portions of pasta&meatballs & west coast mussels in white wine and garlic (which both could have done with more flavours!). Ok price, but just barely, though.
Now having some pints at Pot Still, a pub near our hotel. Here's a beer festival going on in Glasgow (though you'd never know, unless you come to a pub, order a pint and you get a paper before you&you gotta rate the beer you drink, 1-10) ;D A photo of this is added in here later. Kelburn is the name of our current beer. Rated it 6/10 pts. OK bitter. Maybe I'll have one glass of Dalmore whisky (18 yrs old) next and then off to sleep. Tomorrow we're heading off to Belfast via Stranraer (train&ferry ride ahead). Interested to see Northern Ireland. :)
