Went to a walk to Thamel, after breakfast. And it sure was just as noisy as all the tips&books&everything had told. Chaotic and also very easy to get lost, 'cause all the allets and streets look the same..
Popped in to coupla stores selling Khukuri's, the traditional knives of the Gurkhas. They're beautiful, and thought of buying one.
Then we headed to the World Heritage Site of the Durbar Square and it's many temples. Many guides inmeadetely tried to sell us their services, but we declined. 'till we got in front of the Kumari Ghar, where we met this one young ans very friendly guy, who did not push himself at all to us, only after already had told us about the Kumari etc., asked us if we'd want a guide. We also got to decide the price by ourselves. We also got to see the Kumari in herself from yhe window of her residence, 'cause this quide asked for it. Boy did that little girl look _bored..! ;) But it's suppose to bring good luck to see her - hopefully.
This guy turned out to be an excellent guide, enthusiastic and told the stories very lively! Would recommend him for any tourist who would want a guide who is friendly, and knows things. Since there's lots of "slimy" ones who just come to harash you, like one who came to talk to us secondly, who we refused. And who then followed us and our real guide, this friendly guy, all over the place. And on top of all, in the end demanded "a share" for himself from our guys' salary from him!! 'Cause "he had seen us first" or some other s***. So that was s***ty, so we gave a little bit more money for our guide than we had firstly agreed, 'cause he was forced to give some of it to the Slimy.
But it was a very nice tour at the Temple site. Many World Heritage Sites by one visit. Highly recommended!
Have a cold Everest beer afterwards, in some if the restaurants at the square. We did at one olace which had a great view for atop of the roof. Unfortunately the food there was s***, but you can't have everything..
But today was a good day, and we saw a lot.
